We know finances can be a barrier for people to participate in this sport, and we’re committed to assisting families to the best of our ability. Whether you’re a coach or a student-athlete, we are here for you! We’re able to offer this support thanks to the generous donations of our private donors and sponsors.
WVICL Needs-Based Scholarships
The West Virginia Interscholastic Cycling League is committed to making sure every student-athlete has the opportunity to participate in all events, regardless of their financial situation. Thank you to the many league donors for contributing to the league’s scholarship fund.
Due to the limited amount of scholarship funding, we must ensure that the student-athletes who receive financial support commit to participate with their teams.
Scholarships issued by the WVICL will be processed after the student has been registered in Pit Zone unless otherwise agreed to by the League Director. Complete all registration information in Pit Zone and indicate “Pay by Check” in the fee section. Scholarship applications must be submitted by July 1st of the current registration season.
Our scholarships are based on your family's eligibility for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Typically, and subject to availability of funding, scholarships are awarded as follows:
- NSLP Free Lunch: $60 League Registration Fee, and 50% of race fees.
- NSLP Reduced Price Lunch: $60 league Registration Fee, and 25% of race fees.
- Anyone, not eligible based on the above criteria will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Scholarship applications for any camp, clinic, or other state events, must be submitted four weeks prior to that event.
Scholarships are available for student-athlete League fees, Race fees, and all WVICL camps.
